The Los Angeles Clippers Record After the First 10 Games - Take it to the Bank!

Image
With NBA basketball still over a month away wouldn't it be nice to get a sneak peak at what the season is going to look like? At least the first ten games for the Clippers. That's impossible you say? Read on. 39 days. It feels like an eternity, I know. I imagine there have been other NBA seasons as highly anticipated as the one coming in 2019-20, but it doesn't feel like it. So many big names changed teams this off-season. The Raptors are the defending champions. The Raptors! From Canada!! In short, there is a lot to look forward to, especially in Los Angeles. LA is home to four of the top 10 NBA players according to  Sports Illustrated.  Incidentally, do you think it bothers LeBron James to come in at #3? I mean, does it motivate him? Does he need motivation at this point in his career? I am honestly curious to know if he even cares.  Anyway. The Clippers, with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard, are poised for the best season in their history. I'm not sure it will be th...

Should Clippers Fans Forgive Corey Maggette?

Image
We idolize our sports heroes, sometimes blindly. Is it time we as fans begin to re-think our adulation? I know from the get-go that this is a sensitive topic. So that being said if you are uncomfortable with me talking about it, then that's a start. You should feel uncomfortable about it. Rape is a hot button issue, especially in today's #metoo climate. As well it should be. It is at the top of the list of the most horrible crimes a human being could commit. Get that discomfort out the way so we can talk about this. If me talking about athletes getting away with rape makes you uncomfortable then watching them go free and then go play for and make millions of dollars off of your favorite sports team should be giving you hemorrhoids. With the most recent Antonio Brown case all over sports media the past few days, I almost said here now that "this sort of thing has been in the news a lot lately ", but upon further thought it would be more accurate to say it has been in ...

The Kawhi Victory Lap – Five Must Watch Games for the Clippers This Season

Image
In the 2019-20 NBA season the Los Angeles Clippers are a consensus Championship favorite with a bonafide Superstar in Kawhi Leonard. These are the five games you need to circle in your calendar.  The West is loaded and the Clippers will have marquee games throughout the year, but these five  games all have a little extra meaning, and they all revolve around the best player in the NBA, who  just won his second finals MVP. The Clippers five most intriguing games could also be called the  Kawhi victory lap. Kawhi crushed the dreams of all five of these teams, four in last years Championship run and the Lakers this off-season when he chose the Clippers over them. He’ll look to do it again on his way to another championship with his new running mates in LA. Game 1 November 6th: Bucks at Clippers The 1st game against Milwaukee he goes up against Giannis Antetokounmpo who he shut down to  advance to the Finals. League MVP vs Final MVP what more could you want? In las...

Will the Clippers new Additions be as Seamless as Expected?

Image
Despite a lot of justified excitement surrounding the 2019-20 Clippers it's important to remember there are challenges ahead. Building a team isn't easy, building a Championship is even tougher. A Star. Star defined is any massive self-luminous celestial body of gas that shines by radiation derived from its internal energy sources. This translates to athletes’ gifts as such. A star athlete is one whose gifts elevate he or she into the top echelon of his or her peers. One's physical and mental abilities have come together at the right time. They become the focal point of the team and the most critical element needed to enable the team to succeed. That success is fueled by one's internal energy source. Their drive, their compassion, their dedication. The N.B.A has many good players, but not many stars. Entering the 19-20 season, there are 494 players in the league. This does not include the D-League. Of those players, 24 are voted as All-Stars each year and of those 24 t...

Los Angeles Clippers: What's the Real Reason Behind the Ty Lue Hiring?

Image
It's been 35 years since the Clippers joined the Lakers in Los Angeles. The 2019-20 season is the first time in all those years the "Battle for LA" is between two of the Associations best teams! With the growing anticipation of the 2019-20 NBA season, the arms race in the Western Conference between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers continues deep into the off-season. With every roster move, every coaching or front office addition, both teams are trying to gain every asset possible to become the next NBA champion. For the Clippers adding another piece to their already stellar coaching staff and front office, seems unfair at first glance. That’s if you haven’t been paying attention to the NBA headlines for the last few months. The Clippers have reached an agreement with former Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue to become the assistant head coach to Doc Rivers on Tuesday, August 20th. Now keep in mind the type of summer the Clippers have had. Coming off a first-ro...

L.A Clippers: Champions in the Making

Image
The Los Angeles Clippers have a lot of history, most of it not all that memorable. In the 2019-20 season however they are poised to make a run for a Championship and carve out some positive history. When a basketball fan thinks of greatness, great teams, great players many thoughts come to mind. The brain is ignited with the nostalgia of great moments in sports history. The decade of dominance by the 60’s Celtics and the aura of the Boston Garden. The rivalry between Magic and Bird. The brute of the Bad Boy Pistons. The deft defying acrobatics of Michael and the Bulls, heck even the championship turmoil of Shaq and Kobe, or Kobe and Shaq depending upon who you ask. However, no one, and I would be willing to bet that no one would answer the Clippers. What comes to mind when you think of the Clippers? My earliest thoughts are a Baron Davis led team and off the top of my head, I couldn’t tell you what they did. There have been expansion teams, with more success than the Clippers. The Clip...

Is Kawhi Leonard the Heir to the NBA’s Throne?

Image
The NBA has always had a "face". In this article we look at the history of the "face of the league" and examine those in line for the title in 2019-20 The NBA always has and always will be viewed as a player’s league. A game in which the player's faces are so visible to the fans and the fans are so close to the action makes basketball one of the world’s most interactive sports. There are only five players on the court at a time, 15 on a team and one player can dominate a game, and even a season. In fact, over the entire history of the league, there has been at least one person who represented the league for a couple of years at a time. Some have even been recognized as the face of the league for a decade at a time. Some years it was several players who battled for the title best player in the league, and an argument could be made that the best player often coincided with best team or championships. During the late ’50s to the mid-’60s, Bill Russell was the fac...

Los Angeles Clippers: Will 2019-20 Be Their Best Season Ever?

On the heels of the franchises best off-season ever, it seems silly to ask if the upcoming season will be their best. First off, it's a silly question because, despite what so many others are saying, no one knows for sure. Then, one could argue that a great off-season should translate to the their best season ever. Finally, it's important to understand there are multiple ways to define the success of a season. Lot's to think about here. So, lets take each of those points individually. Will the Clippers 2019-20 season be their best ever? No one knows for sure. Of course, if we just started and stopped there writing about the team would be kinda boring. It's true that no one knows, but we can all guess. I mean, that's the bread-and-butter of this time of year. Initially, the pundits placed their best on where Kawhi would end up. Some were wrong: #Clippers are OUT of Kawhi sweepstakes. After a phone conference the team was notified. #Lakers and #Raptors are still in...
